Chiropractic was discovered in 1895 by D.D. Palmer. He noticed that the janitor at his office, Harvey Lillard, had “bumps” on his back. Harvey was deaf. Through his research, D.D. came to the conclusion that spinal misalignments affected the functioning of the body. So, as an experiment, he pushed the “bumps” on Harvey Lillard’s back down and over the course of several treatments, his hearing was restored. D.D. Palmer knew he was onto something and developed a system of diagnosing and adjusting which he called Chiropractic.

Chiropractic is a natural method of health care that does not use drugs or surgery. Chiropractors, through the use of the chiropractic adjustment, remove nerve interference from the body and mobilize the spinal segments which allows the body to heal itself and function more optimally.

The nervous system controls every function in the body and is the main “computer” for all the processes going on in the body. If the nervous system is interfered with by pressure on a nerve from a misaligned or stuck vertebra, that nerve will not function at 100% and actually starts degenerating.

For example, if the nerve to the sinuses is “pinched” , allergies could be one of the symptoms. An adjustment to the neck will help this. Another example is, if the 3rd vertebra in the low back is out, one can have symptoms such as knee pain, menstrual troubles and, of course, back pain.

The body is an amazing structure and chiropractic is a means to keep your body healthy and functioning right.
